TalkTone becomes the partner of
China national new agency
In December 2007, TalkTone™
New Media has signed a contract with Xinhua News Agency, China
national News agency. TalkTone will redistribute Xinhua’s news
products to UK and Ireland markets, especially China financial
and resource information. Up to now, TalkTone is the sole
partner of Xinhua news agency in both UK and Ireland.
Xinhua New Agency, founded
in 1931, is China national news agency and also the news censor
authority in China. It is listed in the top range of world news
agency, e.g. Reuters, Tass, AP. Xihua employs more than 10,000
people and has over 100 bureaus all over the world. In China, it
has its bureaus in every province.
In 2008, TalkTone™ will
launch an on-line databank for this new operation. At the same
time, TalkTone™ introduces Xinhua news agency and its
information service to the media, academe and enterprise in UK
and Ireland.

TalkTone™ was awarded as Best
Student Business Plan
On 29th November 2007,
TalkTone New Media was awarded by Knowledge West for its
software plan. Mr. Zeng, CEO of TalkTone New Media, was invited
to attend and received Best Student Business Plan with the prize
of £ 1000. The ceremony,
Knowledge West Enterprise Awards, was hosted in SS Great
Britain, Bristol. Mr Zeng told the audience, “(through the
competition) I get to know potential investors. They can give me
money. Money is business. It is very important.”
The Knowledge West project
is your local gateway to world class expertise from an extensive
range of academic and commercial experts. Knowledge West
develops collaborative Flagship Initiatives for business,
provides continuing professional development, events for
business themed on business innovation and the knowledge
economy, and advice about business innovation networks.
Knowledge West is led by the
University of the West of England in collaboration with the
Universities of Bath, Gloucestershire, and Bristol, the Royal
Agricultural College, Bath Spa University and Business West.

2007 at the Uni. of Bristol
TalkTone, a mandarin self-teaching software system was also highly
commended, winning £3,000 and six months rent-free office space
in the Bristol SETsquared Acceleration Centre.

"TalkTone: A Mandarine Teaching
Software Package" business plan was developed by
University of Bristol postgraduate students Zeng Biao
(Experimental Psychology) and Gao Anyu (Electrical &
Electronic Engineering). The software addressed
one of the greatest challenges in learning Chinese is to
identify (and pronounce) the language's four special
tones (intonations). TalkTone is a Windows-based self-learning
Spoken Chinese software system for non-native speakers.
The system consists of an innovative speech recognition
technology and a specifically designed database
comprising of a variety of dialogue scenarios. The
software package allows users to interact under
different customised scenarios offering a natural
learning experience.
